H&M & Gill Capital Use Pangolin to Provide SDWAN for Hundreds of Stores

Gill Capital is a leading fashion and lifestyle retail group, bringing excitement and energy to the retail scene through an impressive portfolio of vibrant global brands. Gill Capital and H&M have deployed Pangolin across their cloud infrastructure and fleet of point of sale systems to create a secure reliable network for backhaul connectivity and remote management of in store equipment.

Challenge

Gill Capital manages hundreds of stores from top brands like H&M across Southeast Asia. They needed to replace legacy backhaul networking from existing hardware based big network vendors across the whole store fleet with a modern, zero-trust solution. Their point-of-sale systems need to talk to resources in their cloud environment and vice versa. Additionally, engineers and support personnel need remote access to these locations to support in-store staff.

Solution

Pangolin delivered an all-in-one networking solution that provides SDWAN-style backhaul networking from individual POS devices to their cloud environment. Each device runs as its own site, connecting outbound to remote nodes running in the cloud VPC without any inbound ports or public IPs to manage. This let Gill Capital monitor uptime and scope access down to a per-device level while keeping a persistent, fast, and secure tunnel for business critical data.

Additionally, support personnel and engineers were given access through their central identity provider, so the same roles that govern their other systems now determine exactly which stores and devices each person can reach so no separate VPN accounts or shared credentials per location were required.

Impact

  • Backhaul connectivity live across 100+ brick-and-mortar locations without provisioning public IPs or opening inbound firewall ports
  • Store-level health and uptime visible from a single dashboard instead of scattered per-site tooling
  • Engineers and support staff reach only the stores and devices their role covers, scoped through the existing identity provider
  • New-store networking rollout standardized into a repeatable, zero-touch process instead of one-off backhaul configuration
